Introduction:
After reading the Introduction, I realized how little I actually knew about not only the history of the Church and the prophets, but also the history of Joseph Smith Jr. and the purpose of the Church on this Earth in general.
First of all, I need to do some more deep research to find out what actually happened to the Lamanites that stemmed from the Jaredites, because I did not know they were the modern day Native Americans. Or, at least I didn’t realize. I know there are detailed readings in the Book of Omni, Book of Mormon (inside of the Book of Mormon), and Helaman about it, so I may take a bit of time and study those for a bit.
*However, a lot of research can be done in Ether.
Also, I don’t feel I have a deep testimony of Joseph Smith Jr. yet. There was a passage that said,
“We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if this book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10: 3-5)
And after reading the scriptures in Moroni, I can say I do have a testimony of the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Pearl of Great Price. I just need to do my studies for modern day prophets!
I feel the Spirit, and I feel at peace when I hear prophets like President Eyering, President Uchtdorf, Elder Nelson, Elder Cook, or even Prophet Monson himself, so I see no need that I wouldn’t have a testimony of Joseph Smith Jr. upon further reading and prayerfully asking.
Over the next few Journal Entries, expect me to sprinkle in a bit of Joseph Smith Translation, and a bunch of other scriptures and passages that aren’t in the Book of Mormon 🤗.
‘Till next time!!
